THE CRESCENT
The side profile gives a more detailed view of the seat from the ¾ view. From the vintage textured inside cushioning, rattan or woven rope exterior all the way to the exposed metallic frame holding both the seat and foot-rest in the air. Comfort and attention to detail was key in informing the design.
The design is shaped like an incomplete bowl reminiscent of a 1/3 of a sphere cut open. The reason for this shape is it allows enough dead room for one to be part of the outside world while at the same time being a sphere, it gives the user an embracing vibe like being in and open cocoon. This encourages both isolation and interaction all at once. Having the foot-rest further enhances the comfort of the seat along with the cushioning inside the seat. The contrast of material and texture on the outside and inside gives one that feeling of safety and comfort since it is warm and cozy on the inside but rough and textured on the outside just like a protective shell.

The frame is metallic and partially exposed with the top part of it stretching outwards to form the arm rest. This top part could be covered up with a cushioning material to hide the protruding metal frame, but as it is, it adds to the character of the seat where one could be seated all warm and cozy inside but then get that cold steel feeling when they hold the metallic bit which creates that contrast in feeling.
The design checks all the relevant boxes from unique style, ergonomics, minimalism, as well as simple lines, in this case curves, to bring out the final form.
If you were an ant, walking past the seat would give you a view close to this. From the front, one can see the foot-rest standing in-front of the towering lounge seat at the back with the exposed metal frames, textured underparts and classic fabric cushioning covering the top parts.
If you were approaching the seat from behind, this is the view you would get to see. The seat looking wide and low, the foot-rest ready to hold up your legs and the inviting cushioning on the inside for you to sit on and drift away and it rocks your world, all the way to slumber.
